What this spread is
A monthly spread is about weather and workload, not prophecy of thirty exact days. It helps you look back and ahead in the same sitting. Combined with a journal, it is one of the healthiest tarot habits because it resists constant drawing.
Number of cards
This layout uses 5 cards.
When to use it
Use it on the first of the month, at a new moon if that is your custom, or whenever you close a notebook. Keep last month's notes nearby so the cards have something true to talk to.
Card positions
A theme, not a headline from the future.
A practice worth keeping.
A habit or story that has finished.
Body, craft, or relationship to feed.
One question, not twenty tasks.
How to perform the reading
Optional: pull a signifier only if it helps you focus, otherwise skip it. Draw five cards. Translate each into a calendar note. If Wheel of Fortune or The World appears, zoom out. If Tens appear, look for completions.
Example interpretation
Climate: The Star. Continue: Knight of Pentacles. Compost: Five of Swords. Nourish: Ace of Cups. Question: The Hierophant as "whose teaching am I repeating?" A practical month: keep slow craft, stop scorekeeping arguments, make room for a sincere connection or art, and audit the voices you treat as authority. That is a study plan, not a horoscope.
Reflection questions
- What did last month actually contain, according to my notes?
- Which card belongs on a calendar, not on a vision board?
- What question can I stand to live with for four weeks?
